Former President Donald Trump, now once again the official Republican nominee for president, has been reinstated on Twitch, the streaming platform from which he was banned indefinitely in 2021 following the January 6 Capitol insurrection. The ban was quietly lifted on Friday amidst widespread online infrastructure issues linked to CrowdStrike outages.
Twitch justified Trump's return by citing his newly official status as the presidential nominee following the Republican National Convention. "Slasher" revealed that Twitch spokesperson stated "We reinstated former President Trump’s channel. We believe there is value in hearing from Presidential nominees directly, when possible. Trump is now the official Republican nominee for US president."

Trump's initial ban in June 2020 stemmed from two instances of hateful rhetoric broadcast on his official Twitch channel. One of these instances involved the replay of a 2016 rally where Trump made derogatory comments about Mexican immigrants, including calling them "rapists."
