According to recent reports by Twitch the company will stop its operations in South Korea. The company recently reduced the quality of the streams to 720p. However, even with these reductions, Twitch stated that their costs are 10 times more in South Korea than other countries. South Korea has implemented increased network usage fees for foreign content providers, sparking controversy and legal conflicts. In response, Netflix has filed a lawsuit against a South Korean internet service provider, contending that it is not obligated to pay these network usage fees.Twitch officials stated "“Twitch has been operating in Korea at a significant loss, and unfortunately there is no pathway forward for our business to run more sustainably in that country.”"
