The US Department of Justice has issued a civil antitrust lawsuit against Apple, alleging the tech company of unlawfully monopolizing the smartphone market and breaching antitrust regulations. The lawsuit, filed in the US District of New Jersey on Thursday, asserts that Apple has infringed these laws by imposing selective restrictions on developers across various fronts. Specifically highlighted in the suit is Apple's position on cloud gaming, cited as a significant factor in the alleged violations.
The documents stated "Apple has blocked the development of cloud-streaming apps and services that would allow consumers to enjoy high-quality video games and other cloud-based applications without having to pay for expensive smartphone hardware. Apple wielded its power over app distribution to effectively prevent third-party developers from offering cloud gaming subscription services as a native app on the iPhone."
