Webedia Walks Away From the LFL After Eight Years

Thomas "Zaboutine" Si-Hassen broke it on his podcast On Refait Le Nash this Tuesday. Webedia will no longer organise the Ligue Française de League of Legends from 2027.
That is the end of an 8 year run. Webedia was the builder of the league in 2019 and has operated it since, making the LFL the biggest tier-two competition in EMEA by viewership, home notable teams such as Karmine Corp, Solary, Gentle Mates, Team GO and Vitality.Bee.
N.E.O might be the new operator of LFL.
The people involved have done this before
Bertrand Amar ran Webedia's esports operations from 2016 to 2025. He launched the LFL in 2019 and the ES1 esports TV channel in 2018, and oversaw EMEA Masters production from 2023 and EVO's arrival in Europe.
He left in December and co-founded N.E.O with Matthieu Dallon, who was thecreater of the Electronic Sports World Cup and ran it until Webedia acquired it, an asset now owned by Saudi Arabia's PIF and a part of into the Esports World Cup Foundation.
Since its launch, N.E.O has taken EMEA Masters, Game Changers, the Nova Series, EVO France and the EVA Pro League under its wings. It also produced the France Televisions highlights show for this year's Esports World Cup.
Most of those were actually Webedia properties. The LFL would complete the set, handing the league back to the person who created it, under a different company.
The pattern this belongs to
Three ERLs have changed hands or lost their operator this year.
Spain's Superliga was thge first, eventually taken over by LastLap, a group the league's own organisations selected. The NLC ran into trouble after investing heavily in live events during 2025, went through changes, and ended up with Riot announcing an interim operating structure with GameWaves running operations. Prime League moved to Berlin agency onethreefive gaming.
Now France, which was supposed to be the healthy one.
LFL Division 2 was removed and replaced with the Nexus League, which has considerable less interest. An LFL Invitational was created. And no in-person event ran at all in 2026, the first time since 2020, when nobody could hold one.
Tier-two European League has been losing viewership and community attention for several years. Operators leaving is the visible symptom.
