Nadeshot
OpTic Gaming (2010–2015)
Matthew "Nadeshot" Haag joined OpTic Gaming in 2010, competed in his first professional Call of Duty tournament in 2008 when he was 16.[1] He won the Call of Duty XP World Championship with his team in 2011 and, in 2014, also won at the Major League Gaming X Games while captaining the team through the Call of Duty: Ghosts season.[2] He was named Esports Athlete of the Year in 2014.[3]
Haag was OpTic's captain through the 2014–2015 Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare season before stepping down following a seventh-place finish at the 2015 Call of Duty Championship, leaving the organization the following year.[4]
Content creation (2015–2017)
After retiring from pro play, Haag built an audience on Twitch and YouTube as a content creator, growing his channels into some of the largest in gaming and earning a spot on Forbes' 30 Under 30 list.[5]
Founding 100 Thieves (2017–2024)
Haag founded 100 Thieves on 20 November 2017 as a Los Angeles-based esports and apparel organization.[6] That same month, the company received a multimillion-dollar investment from Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, allowing it to expand into a full esports organization.[7] A Series A round followed in October 2018, co-led by Scooter Braun and Drake, who became co-owners after raising 25 million US dollars, with a Series B round of 35 million US dollars in July 2019 and a Series C round of 60 million US dollars in December 2021.[8]
The organization expanded into apparel, podcasting and multiple esports titles over the following years, though it also underwent several rounds of layoffs, including in July 2022, January 2023, and November 2023, when 20 percent of its workforce was cut and its game-studio and energy-drink divisions were spun off as separate companies.[9] Haag launched his own energy drink brand, Juvee, in October 2022.[10]
Stepping back (2024–present)
In December 2024, Haag said he would step back from day-to-day involvement with 100 Thieves to focus on content creation full-time.[11]
