While fans have long speculated about a return, a recent report from Matt Brown of Extra Points indicates that the new game is targeted for release during the 2028–2029 college basketball season. While the NCAA will be involved as a licensed partner, the new title will not carry the “NCAA Basketball” name, according to Brown. Instead, early documentation suggests the game will launch under the working title “EA Sports College Basketball.”

“The working title mentioned in the paperwork I inspected was ‘EA Sports College Basketball,’” Brown shared, adding that the NCAA is on board with licensing but won’t lend its name to the title.
