Riot Games has announced that the 2026 League of Legends World Championship will be held in two cities: Allen, Texas and New York City. This will be the first time since 2022 that the World Championship will take place in North America.
In a special announcement during the media day before the 2025 World Championship Final between T1 and KT Rolster, Riot shared that Allen, Texas will host the early parts of the tournament, including the Play-In, Swiss stage, and the Playoffs. New York City will be the location for the Grand Final. However, Riot has not yet shared the specific locations for each part of the event.
2026 will be a special year for Worlds because, except for the years during the COVID-19 pandemic, it will be the first time in three years that the tournament takes place across two cities. In 2023, the event was hosted by two cities in South Korea: Busan and Seoul.
Along with the announcement of the 2026 World Championship locations, Riot Games also revealed some exciting news about the First Stand tournament. The second edition of this international event will take place in São Paulo, Brazil, from March 16th to 22nd, 2026. The tournament will have more teams than the previous year, growing from six to eight, and all the matches will be played in a best-of-five format. This is a big deal for League of Legends fans, as São Paulo has a history with major League events. In 2017, the city hosted the Mid-Season Invitational (MSI), which was won by SK Telecom T1.
