Atari has revealed plans to resurrect the Infogrames brand, reintroducing it as a publishing label. Under this revival, Infogrames will concentrate on publishing activities and acquiring intellectual property (IP). The first acquisition under this initiative is Totally Reliable Delivery Service, obtained from Tiny Build.
Infogrames, a French publisher established in 1983, made its mark with its initial global hit, Alone in the Dark, widely recognized as a trailblazer in the survival horror genre. In the late 1990s, the company embarked on an acquisition spree, acquiring several game developers and publishers worldwide, including Ocean Software, Gremlin Interactive, and GT Interactive.
In January 2001, Infogrames secured rights to the Atari brand following its acquisition of Hasbro Interactive for $100 million. Two years later, it transitioned into a holding company and unified its subsidiaries under the Atari label.
Atari COO Geoffroy Châteauvieux as manager. He stated "With Totally Reliable Delivery Service, Infogrames is starting off with a strong IP that has a loyal and enthusiastic player base. The Infogrames team will be able to expand upon the strong work of tinyBuild, and re-energise this high-potential franchise."
