Sony has officially unveiled the PlayStation 5 Pro, priced at $700 and scheduled for release on November 7, 2024. The console will not include a disc drive but offers an option to purchase one separately.
The PS5 Pro features a significantly upgraded GPU with 67% more Compute Units and 28% faster memory, resulting in up to 45% faster rendering. It also includes enhanced ray tracing capabilities for improved light reflection and refraction and introduces PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling technology for sharper image clarity.
The new model comes with a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and pre-installed with Astro’s Playroom. It supports Wi-Fi 7 and will be compatible with existing PS5 games, which will be playable with the same user interface and online services. Games optimized for the PS5 Pro will carry a 'PS5 Pro Enhanced' label. Notable titles optimized for the PS5 Pro include Alan Wake 2, Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, Demon’s Souls, and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth.
