Epic Games has announced several significant updates for the Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) 2025 season, set to begin in January. These changes were revealed following the conclusion of RLCS Worlds 2024, where Team BDS emerged victorious over G2 Esports in a dramatic Grand Finals that spanned six maps, earning BDS $300k of the prize pool.

Key changes for the RLCS 2025 season include:

Introduction of RLCS 1v1 Format:

Split 1: An Open Qualifier will be held in Europe (EU), South America (SAM), and Asia-Pacific (APAC). Cash prizes will be awarded to the top 128 players in EU, 64 in SAM, and 32 in APAC. Winners from EU and SAM will advance to the 1v1 Final at Major 1.

Split 2: An Open Qualifier will take place in North America (NA), the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), Oceania (OCE), and Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). Cash prizes will be given to the top 128 in NA, 64 in MENA and OCE, and 32 in SSA. Winners from NA and MENA will compete in the 1v1 Final at Major 2.

World Championship: The winners of the Major 1 and Major 2 1v1 Finals will face off at the Rocket League World Championship 2025. Players will be able to participate in both 3v3 and 1v1 formats, and multiple players from the same organization can compete against each other. Last Chance Open Qualifiers:

An online Last Chance Open Qualifier will be held between Major 2 and the RLCS World Championship. This qualifier will involve the top regions based on performance at RLCS Majors, though the specific regions have not been announced. One team from each of the four strongest regions will secure a spot in the World Championship.

Expanded RLCS World Championship:

The RLCS World Championship 2025 will feature 20 teams, an increase from the current 16. The new format includes four teams that qualify through the Last Chance Open Qualifiers. These teams will face off in a Play-In Stage against the four lowest-seeded teams from the lowest-ranked regions. The top four teams from this stage will advance to the World Championship.
