Sony has clarified that the full-screen promotional materials that appeared on PS5 dashboards after the latest update were added in "error" and have now been removed. Players reported on social media that Game Hubs were overtaken by full-screen game advertisements instead of the usual background artwork.

For instance, hovering over Horizon Zero Dawn linked to an ad for Lego Horizon Adventures, and users found that these ads could only be disabled by disconnecting the console from the internet.

In a statement on X/Twitter, the AskPlayStation account addressed the issue: "A tech error with the Official News feature on the PS5 console has since been resolved. There have been no changes to the way game news is displayed on PS5."
