Bethesda is shutting down The Elder Scrolls Legends and has removed the game from Steam. The free-to-play card game will remain online until early 2025, when it will become completely inaccessible. Launched in 2017, Legends was put “on hold” in 2019 with no updates since. Although you can no longer download it from Valve’s storefront, there’s still a chance to try Legends before it’s gone.

The card game market is heavily dominated by titles like Magic: The Gathering Arena, Hearthstone, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel, and Pokémon TCG Pocket, making it challenging for Legends to compete. Despite starting strong with eight expansions in its first two years, the game struggled to maintain its player base after being put on hiatus.

An in-game message announced, “The Elder Scrolls Legends servers will permanently shut down on January 30, 2025. From now until January 30, 2025, all items in the store and entry into in-game events will be available for one gold each, so you can enjoy all the content Legends has to offer. On that date, servers will be shut down and the game will be inaccessible. Thank you for playing and we hope you enjoyed your time in Legends.”
