Bulldog Esports, a well-known UK-based esports brand, has been revived by its founder Antony Newton. After Bulldog was acquired by X7 Esports in 2021, and the subsequent closure of X7 in 2022, many of the organization’s former staff, including Newton, went on to establish Fourth Wall Esports Club in early 2023. However, recent reports suggest that Fourth Wall may also be shutting down, although this has not yet been officially confirmed by the team.
In a video released by Bulldog Esports, Newton shared his frustration with seeing his original brand sitting dormant and expressed his desire to bring it back to life. To support this vision, Newton has partnered with two new co-owners: NAWI, who takes on the role of Chief Commercial Officer, and Jolly, who will serve as Chief Operating Officer. Together, they are looking to reignite Bulldog Esports and build a strong future for the organization.
With Bulldog's return, the team is rejoining the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC), marking a significant moment in the UK esports scene. In a related development, Irish organization Nativz has announced its departure from the NLC, opting to focus on rebuilding from the ground up and directing its efforts towards grassroots initiatives like the Ireland Esports Collegiate Series.
The revival of Bulldog Esports comes at a time of uncertainty for many organizations in the competitive esports landscape, with several teams facing challenges related to sustainability and growth. Bulldog’s return, led by a familiar face in Newton and a new management team, will be closely watched to see if the brand can regain its previous success and build a lasting presence in the esports industry.
