Jason ‘WildTurtle’ Tran Retires

Jason ‘WildTurtle’ Tran has announced his retirement from the esports scene, sharing the news on March 12th via a video posted on Shopify Rebellion’s social media, where he last served as a coach. Reflecting on his journey, WildTurtle shared, "When I was first starting to play League, I never even thought I was going to be a pro player. I kinda just played for the fun of it. […] So it was honestly like a dream come true that it just happened naturally."

WildTurtle began his professional career in 2013 with Cloud9 as a botlaner. However, his big break came when he was called up as a last-minute substitute for TSM during the LCS Spring 2013. After an unforgettable Pentakill in his LCS debut, WildTurtle helped TSM secure its first championship title and earned a permanent spot on the roster.

With TSM, WildTurtle also won the IEM Season XI World Championship in 2015, a moment he still cherishes as one of the highlights of his career.

Over the years, WildTurtle played for several notable North American organizations, including FlyQuest, Counter Logic Gaming, and Immortals. Later in his career, he transitioned into coaching. Reflecting on that experience, he said, “Coaching is very very hard. You kinda spend the same amount of time as a player would because you are there with the team the entire time. So coaching is much harder than it seems, which is also why I have to hang up the towel.”
