ALGS Championship V & VI Will Stay in Japan

The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) has announced that its World Championships will remain in Sapporo, Japan, for both Year 5 and Year 6, following a newly signed agreement with the City of Sapporo.

This announcement solidifies the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME as the home of the prestigious season-ending event through 2026. The deal builds on the success of the Year 4 Championship, which took place in January and marked a major milestone for the esport. With over 34,000 fans in attendance, it became the most highly attended event in ALGS history.

Electronic Arts (EA), the publisher of Apex Legends, emphasized the importance of the Asia-Pacific region to the game's esports future. The multi-year partnership reflects both the growing popularity of competitive gaming in the region and EA’s commitment to large-scale, in-person events.

“The energy and passion that our fans in Sapporo bring to the ALGS is unmatched,” said Monica Dinsmore, Head of Esports at EA. “As the Apex Legends ecosystem continues to grow, we remain deeply committed to delivering unforgettable live experiences that bring communities together and elevate our competitors on the world stage.”

While the ALGS continues to establish itself as a premier global battle royale circuit, not all news has been celebratory. In June, long-standing esports organization Complexity announced its departure from the ALGS, ending a six-year run within the competition.
