Riot Games has officially confirmed that Valorant will receive its long-awaited Unreal Engine 5 upgrade on July 29, marking a major technical leap for the tactical shooter. The engine switch, first teased months ago, is expected to dramatically enhance the game's visual fidelity and performance across platforms.

In preparation for the update, Riot Games is skipping patch 11.01 entirely and rolling all planned changes into version 11.02. According to a brief blog post from developer Kenny “Karnifexlol” Cameron, this patch will deliver the full Unreal Engine 5 upgrade and bundle in any gameplay adjustments originally slated for the skipped patch. “Any changes to the game will be included in patch 11.02,” Cameron noted, highlighting the scale of the overhaul.

Valorant, launched in 2020, has become a dominant force in competitive FPS gaming thanks to its blend of precise gunplay and agent-based strategy. Drawing inspiration from classics like Counter-Strike, the game has continually evolved with a growing roster, improved matchmaking, and robust anti-cheat systems—all part of Riot’s push to create a balanced and thriving esports scene.

The move to Unreal Engine 5 represents the game’s most significant update yet.
