Dubai Police has unveiled the details of the fifth annual Dubai Police Esports Tournament, scheduled to run from August 14th to 17th at the Dubai Police Officers Club in Al Jaddaf. The event will bring together over 1,500 players from diverse nationalities, competing across six major esports titles.

Set to feature Counter-Strike 2, VALORANT, Dota 2, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, EA Sports FC 25, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, the tournament continues to support Dubai’s growing ambitions in the digital entertainment sector. A total prize pool of 200,000 AED (~£40,465) will be divided among the winners in each game.

Open to participants aged 10 to 35, the tournament is more than just a competitive platform. It also serves as a tool for community outreach, in line with Dubai Police’s strategy to raise awareness about cybercrime risks and promote balanced gaming habits. The event highlights the intersection of entertainment and education, using gaming to encourage digital literacy and safe online behavior.

“The tournament is aimed to reflect the city’s commitment to raising the awareness of the digital and technology industries, while aligning with its strategy to educate gamers about the risks of potential cybercrime and ‘balanced gaming practices,’” the official release noted.

The event is being held in collaboration with the Dubai Sports Council as part of its broader efforts to host youth-centric events that cater to the city’s increasingly tech-savvy population.

Beyond the core esports competitions, attendees can also participate in a Hackathon and a game jam, reinforcing the tournament’s focus on innovation and skill development in gaming and technology.
