Danish esports team Ecstatic has announced a unique partnership with Gamban, a software company focused on preventing gambling addiction. This marks the first time a professional esports team has partnered with a company aimed at tackling gambling harm, rather than promoting betting.
The partnership, revealed on September 12, 2025, will see Gamban as Ecstatic's primary sponsor. Ecstatic emphasized that the deal is focused on protecting people from gambling harm, not endorsing betting.
Gamban provides software that blocks access to gambling sites and apps, offering support to those recovering from gambling addiction. "For ten years, Gamban has helped people block access to gambling on their devices and begin their recovery," said Gamban co-founder Matt Zarb-Cousin. "Partnering with a team that rejects gambling sponsorship entirely is a powerful first step."
In addition to the sponsorship, Ecstatic and Gamban will launch a community Discord hub offering support, including anonymous peer groups and expert advice, aimed at helping those struggling with gambling. The goal is to make support accessible, especially for younger fans, and to demonstrate that esports can thrive without relying on gambling sponsorships.
"This is personal for me," said Ecstatic co-owner Oliver ‘zipeL’ Behrensdorff, reflecting on the importance of the partnership.
