OpTic Texas has emerged victorious at the Call of Duty League (CDL)’s Monster Energy Launch Invitational, solidifying their position as the early frontrunner in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 esports era. The defending CDL champions defeated Still Orgless in a gripping Grand Final, claiming the title and setting the stage for what promises to be another dominant season.

From the very beginning of the tournament, OpTic Texas showed their strength. The Green Wall dominated the upper bracket, sweeping Carolina Royal Ravens and FaZe Vegas 3-0 in back-to-back matches to secure a spot in the upper bracket final. Their superior strategy, particularly in Search and Destroy and Overload, was evident as they dispatched Still Orgless 3-0 in their first encounter to advance to the Grand Final.

Still Orgless, a team featuring the former Los Angeles Thieves duo of Dylan ‘Envoy’ Hannon and Dan ‘Ghosty’ Rothe, dropped into the lower bracket after their loss to OpTic. But they fought back in a stunning run, overcoming G2 Minnesota in a hard-fought series. Despite losing the opening Hardpoint, Still Orgless came back strong, winning the final two maps Colossus Hardpoint 250-222 and Den Search and Destroy 6-4 to earn their first-ever Grand Final appearance.

The Grand Final series itself was a thriller, extending to all seven maps as both teams fought tooth and nail for the win. There was very little separating the two sides, but OpTic Texas’ superior Search and Destroy gameplay once again proved decisive. After a back-and-forth series, OpTic secured Scar Search and Destroy 6-4 in the final map to clinch a 4-3 series victory, securing the tournament title.
