Jonas Gundersen, CEO of Danish esports organization Astralis, has confirmed a delay in the payment of December salaries, affecting both staff and players on the Counter-Strike 2 roster. The delay was first reported by Danish tabloid Ekstra Bladet, which noted that salaries due to be paid on December 1st were not received by employees.

According to the report, the delay is a result of “challenges” faced by the new ownership group following the acquisition of Astralis by Fusion Esports Group in September 2025. Staff were informed that the payments would be delayed by two weeks.

In response to the situation, Gundersen assured that all affected staff would receive a 10% supplement once the salaries are processed. "It is not optimal, but it is about the fact that we have taken over a company with some challenges, which we were fully aware of from the start,” Gundersen said in a statement to Ekstra Bladet. “It is really bad timing for the employees here in the middle of December.”

The payment delay also impacts Astralis' Counter-Strike 2 players, who are currently competing at the StarLadder Budapest Major 2025. This marks the first time in three years that Astralis has participated in a Valve-sanctioned event, as the organization had failed to qualify for a Major since 2022.
