Activision Blizzard has officially announced the ending of the Overwatch League, following a vote taken by the franchise owners. Yesterday OverActive Media announced its decision to leave the league to investors. As the 20 teams disband, the company is said to be compensating them with a total of $120m.

Each team will receive $6m according to the deal. When the league was formed teams paid $20 and above for the entry, however following the start of the pandemic Overwatch League numbers dropped and Overwatch 2 was not enough to pique the interest of the viewers. Activision Blizzard officials stated that even though the league is over there will be additional esports activities in the future.
