Employees at Games Workshop are set to receive a £20 million bonus windfall, as the company behind the iconic Warhammer franchise celebrates another year of strong financial growth.
The Nottingham-based tabletop miniatures giant announced that the bonus, which comes directly from company profits, will be shared equally among staff. The payout marks an increase from the £18 million distributed last year and nearly doubles the £11 million handed out two years ago.
According to Games Workshop, the latest bonus recognises the collective efforts of employees in achieving the company's impressive performance in the financial year ending June 1st. While the firm does not publicly disclose exact staffing figures, it is believed to employ around 1,500 people at its Nottingham headquarters, along with additional staff globally.
The company, which operates close to 550 retail stores worldwide, said it expects revenues to exceed £560 million for the year—up from £495 million the previous year. Pre-tax profits are projected to hit at least £255 million, a substantial rise from £203 million.
This continued success follows the company’s promotion to the FTSE 100 index last year—nearly five decades after Games Workshop was founded in 1975 by Ian Livingstone, Steve Jackson, and John Peake.
Much of the company's recent momentum has been fueled by surging demand for its Warhammer products, which fans collect, paint, and use in tabletop gaming. However, a growing share of revenue is now coming from licensed video games and media adaptations.
Two new titles based on the Warhammer 40,000 sci-fi universe launched in the second half of last year, contributing to a 140% rise in licensing income. In a further expansion of its brand, Games Workshop inked a deal with Amazon in December to adapt its intellectual property for film and television.
