Liam 'MaiL09' Tügel, a 16-year-old Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) player, has made history by setting the highest ELO rating ever on the FACEIT esports tournament platform. His new record is an impressive 5,415 ELO, surpassing the previous record of 5,395 set by Danil 'donk' Kryshkovets just a few months ago in July.
MaiL09, who plays for the team Metizport, reached this milestone after climbing to the top of the global leaderboards on September 2nd. His achievement puts him on track to become the youngest champion ever on FACEIT if he continues to perform well.
Since joining FACEIT back in 2021, MaiL09 has played in more than 3,700 matches and has maintained a 45% win rate. Despite being young, he's already known as a Counter-Strike prodigy and has made a name for himself as one of Sweden's most exciting esports talents.
In June 2025, MaiL09 also took first place at the Svenska Elitserien Spring tournament, which helped solidify his reputation as a rising star in regional tournaments.
If MaiL09 can keep his spot at the top of the FACEIT leaderboards for the rest of the season, he will outperform many professional players who also compete on the platform. Some of these pros, like Donk and Antonio ‘Martinez’ Martinez from Gentle Mates, are also near the top of the rankings and participate in major international tournaments.
