Apeks has decided to put its VALORANT operations on hold following a disappointing 2025 competitive season and upcoming structural changes to the VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT).

The Norwegian esports organisation announced its exit after being relegated from the VCT EMEA league. Despite having achieved a major milestone in 2024 by winning the VCT Ascension EMEA and earning a temporary spot in the international league, Apeks was unable to maintain momentum in 2025. The team failed to qualify for any of the VCT Majors throughout the year, including Masters Bangkok and Masters Toronto, and ultimately did not make the cut for VALORANT Champions in Paris.

The organisation highlighted several reasons behind the decision to step back, including financial strain and the VCT's recent change in promotion slot duration — reduced from two years to just one after the 2024 season.

“Ultimately, while we are confident that we could once again build a high-calibre roster for VCL, the current system no longer aligns with the conditions that initially led us to invest in the space. We hope to return at a later point, but for now, we bid farewell,” Apeks stated.

The team’s 2025 campaign saw early exits across the board. It was eliminated during the VCT EMEA Kickoff event, placing 11th in Stage 1 and 12th in Stage 2, missing all opportunities to progress to international competitions. These performances marked a steep decline from the highs of the previous year, when Apeks had battled through the VALORANT Challengers league and emerged victorious at the VCT Ascension EMEA by defeating PCIFIC Esports in a closely contested 3-2 final.

Apeks entered the VALORANT ecosystem in January 2023, investing in a roster aimed at long-term growth. While the team did find success within two years of joining, shifting league structures and a “significant budget reduction” in 2025 have forced the organisation to reevaluate its position in the scene.
