Astralis brings back "jabbi".

The reason is simple enough. A changed lineup needs five official matches together before its VRS roster card updates.

FUT replaced cmtry with SunPayus in October. SunPayus already played three matches, all in a 3-0 Swiss run at PGL Masters Bucharest that included a 2-1 win over Vitality. If FUT lose their quarter-final, they stop short of five.

Meanwhile cmtry played for Astralis since 13 October. So if he reached five matches there, he would have appeared on two VRS rosters simultaneously, which is against the riles.

Valve’s Major Supplemental Rulebook states invitations go to intact rosters, and that the roster a team registers must match the invited one. Where a player sits on two eligible rosters, only the higher-ranked team can accept. FUT currently sit one place and roughly 60 points above Astralis.

The fix

Bring jabbi back and sit cmtry down, which will keep below the five-match threshold.

Astralis stated that jabbi replaces cmtry for the remainder of Stake Ranked Episode 5 in Barcelona. The roster reads jabbi, siuhy, phzy, Staehr and ryu.

A four-man roster wouldn’t have worked either, since an incomplete lineup isn’t considered intact and can’t accept an invite. Someone had to play, and the only person who couldn’t was the one they’d just signed.

Astralis stated “jabbi stepping up to help at this pivotal moment shows exactly the kind of professional he is. Nothing but respect.” He was benched on 9 October alongside HooXi, a month before Major invites.

What it costs cmtry

Astralis already had two events before 2 November, they participated Stake Pulse Beat III and Stake Ranked Episode 5, to get cmtry there.

He may also be the player who ends up without a Major at all, depending on how FUT’s quarter-final goes, since clarification obtained by HLTV editor-in-chief Milan “Striker” Švejda indicates he couldn’t even serve as an Astralis substitute while listed on FUT’s card.

What happens next

jabbi’s return is understood to be temporary.

If FUT win their quarter-final and reach five matches with SunPayus, cmtry drops off their card and the whole problem evaporates. If they lose, Astralis keep their invite and cmtry waits.
