Battlefield 6 Scam Links Steals Steam Account

Battlefield 6 continues to surge following its successful beta, cybercriminals are now exploiting the game's popularity by spreading fake playtest invitations across Reddit. These phishing scams, designed to steal Steam credentials, are masquerading as official invites to the game’s unreleased battle royale mode.

Scam Targets Reddit Users Eager for Early Access

The scam was first flagged by BFBulletin on X (formerly Twitter), who shared a warning after discovering the fraudulent links on the r/Battlefield subreddit. The post pointed to ads circulating on Reddit that claim to offer players early access to a Battlefield 6 playtest via Steam. However, these links are anything but legitimate.

The fake advertisements direct users to a domain labeled “ea(dot)6-Battlefield(dot)com”, which then redirects to “store(dot)steampowered(dot)joined-playtest(dot)com” — a cleverly disguised phishing site that mimics Steam’s appearance. Clicking on the link leads to a page designed to harvest Steam login credentials, effectively handing control of the victim’s account to the scammers.

This isn’t the first time Battlefield 6 fans have been targeted. A similar scam campaign appeared on Instagram back in July, using the same tactic of fake playtest invites to deceive eager players. Now, Reddit has become the latest platform exploited by attackers seeking to take advantage of the game’s growing fanbase.

The scammers are capitalizing on the immense interest surrounding Battlefield 6's upcoming battle royale mode — a feature that has not yet been publicly released but has been the subject of intense speculation and excitement online.
