Clash of Clans Series Announced

Over a decade after its explosive debut on mobile devices, Clash of Clans is preparing to make the leap from touchscreens to television. Netflix and Finnish game developer Supercell have announced an upcoming animated adaptation based on both Clash of Clans and Clash Royale, marking the franchise’s official entry into serialized storytelling.

The new series will center on a determined yet out-of-his-depth Barbarian, who finds himself leading a ragtag team to defend their village while navigating the absurdities of battle and the bureaucratic chaos of war. Despite originating from two separate games with different mechanics, Clash of Clans and Clash Royale share a vibrant roster of characters—many of whom are expected to appear in the show.

Fletcher Moules, known for directing Entergalactic and previous Clash of Clans animated content, will oversee the project as showrunner. The writing duties are in the hands of Ron Weiner, whose credits include Futurama and Arrested Development. Vancouver-based ICON Creative Studio will handle animation production.

John Derderian, Netflix’s VP of Animation Series, expressed enthusiasm for the project: “Clash has been a global gaming phenomenon for over a decade—filled with humor, action, and unforgettable characters perfect for an animated series adaptation. We’re bringing all the fun, chaos, and spirit of the world of Clash to life in a whole new way. We can’t wait for fans—old and new—to experience the mayhem.”

Curtis Lelash, Supercell’s head of film and television, echoed the excitement, saying: “Think epic battles, immaculate Barbarian mustaches, and the kind of humor our players know and love. They’ve been asking for a Clash series forever, and we’re beyond excited to finally say: It’s happening!”

While this marks the first official streaming series for the Clash universe, it’s not the first time the franchise has ventured into animation. In 2016, Clash-A-Rama!, a humorous YouTube series, garnered a cult following with its offbeat take on village life and troop dynamics. However, that show has not seen new episodes in recent years.

Supercell’s ambitions for the Clash universe have evolved significantly. Originally, the studio had plans for three additional spin-offs—Clash Quest, Clash Mini, and Clash Heroes. Only Clash Heroes remains in development today, now under a new title: Project R.I.S.E.
