Bioware is reportedly undergoing significant restructuring, with a large number of staff being reassigned to other teams and projects. Electronic Arts reportedly laid off a substantial portion of the studio's workforce. Bioware revealed that dozens of employees have lost their jobs, and there are concerns that additional layoffs may occur in the coming weeks and months. One employee stated that they "expect it to happen," while others are bracing for a potential "wave" of cuts.

This downsizing follows EA’s announcement that Bioware is being scaled down to match the current needs of Mass Effect 5. While the company confirmed the restructuring, it has not acknowledged the layoffs, leaving some to wonder why this detail was omitted. Several senior developers, including The Veilguard's lead writer Trick Weekes, who had been with Bioware for over 20 years, and narrative editor Ryan Cormier, publicly shared that they are no longer with the studio and are seeking new opportunities. Other industry veterans, such as former producer Jennifer Cheverie Cott and senior product manager Lina Anderson, were also let go. While some employees were reportedly reassigned to different projects, it's unclear how many were given that option.
