Commissioner of the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) Ian Smith, was interviewed by INSITE. During the interview, Mr. Smith explained the rationale behind the decision made by the Esports Integrity Commission (ESIC) to maintain a two-year period of silence regarding the North American match-fixing investigation that came to light in 2020.

The ESIC commissioner justified this choice by citing several factors. These included the lack of substantial evidence, financial constraints that hindered ongoing investigations, difficulties in obtaining betting information from uncooperative betting operators, and his personal shift in focus towards current-day issues. These combined elements led to the decision not to impose any sanctions in this particular case.

Furthermore, Mr. Smith disclosed that, at one point, the commission had accumulated enough evidence to potentially bring charges against "five to six" individuals. However, since these individuals had already retired from the competitive scene, no action was ultimately taken.
