TL;DR
- FOKUS has entered Counter-Strike 2 with a newly signed international roster.
- Former GamerLegion player Erik ‘ztr’ Gustafsson will captain the team.
- The squad will debut on LAN at Urban Riga Open 3 from March 23rd–24th.
German esports organisation FOKUS has officially expanded into Counter-Strike 2 by signing a new international line-up, marking a major step into one of competitive gaming’s most established titles.
The roster, unveiled on social media, represents a shift away from the organisation’s reported initial plan of building a nationally unified team. Instead, FOKUS has opted for a multinational approach.
According to HLTV, FOKUS had originally signed the former ESC Gaming line-up in November 2025. That squad went on to compete in several Tier 2 events under the Friendly Campers banner.
However, the project did not progress as intended. Max ‘Eggo’ Eickhoff, Senior Team and Project Manager at FOKUS, explained that the existing composition was not delivering the desired results, prompting a full rebuild.
“We have been working for many years to finally see FOKUS in Counter-Strike, and it is important to us to do it in a way that we can identify with,” said Eggo.
As a result, the coaching staff began constructing a new roster from scratch, focusing on a mix of experience and emerging talent.
Former GamerLegion player Erik ‘ztr’ Gustafsson will captain the squad, bringing leadership experience from top-tier competition. He is joined by:
- Sebastian ‘volt’ Malos
- Georgi ‘Jorko’ Mitev
- Mateo ‘Matheos’ Prišlin
- Matias ‘Banjo’ Kivistö
