Niantic, the developer behind Pokémon Go, has reached an agreement to be acquired by Scopely, a subsidiary of the Saudi Arabian investment group Savvy Games Group. The acquisition, valued at $3.5 billion, confirms the details that leaked last month. The deal includes Niantic's entire game development team, as well as its major titles like Pokémon Go, Pikmin Bloom, and Monster Hunter Now.

Additionally, Scopely will take control of Niantic’s companion apps and services, such as Campfire and Wayfarer, and will also oversee popular live events like Pokémon Go Fest.

John Hanke, Niantic’s founder and CEO, expressed confidence in the partnership, saying, “Niantic games have always been a bridge to connect people and inspire exploration, and I’m confident they will continue to do so as part of Scopely.” He added that Scopely shares Niantic’s commitment to building outstanding live services, working with major intellectual properties, and nurturing both player communities and game development teams.

Hanke emphasized that the partnership would provide long-term support and investment for Niantic’s games, ensuring they remain "forever games" that can thrive for generations.

In July 2023, Savvy Games Group acquired Scopely for $4.9 billion, and in January 2024, Nika Nour was appointed SVP and head of international business development for Scopely.
