Blizzard has introduced a crowdfunding bundle for the 2024 OWCS Dallas Major, the Overwatch Champions Series' inaugural international event. The Azure Flame Hanzo OWCS Crowdfunding Bundle is now available for purchase until June 3rd, featuring various in-game cosmetic items like a Hanzo skin, name card, player icon, spray, and weapon charm.

Blizzard disclosed that 25% of the bundle's revenues will contribute to the major's prize pool. It remains uncertain whether ESL FACEIT Group, the OWCS organizer, or Blizzard will make additional contributions to the prize pool, or if the event will solely rely on crowdfunding.

This crowdfunding approach mirrors previous instances in Overwatch esports, such as the 2023 Overwatch World Cup, which raised $513,162 through the sale of event-specific cosmetics and bundles. Similar revenue-generating strategies through in-game items have been utilized in other esports titles like Dota 2 for The International and VALORANT's VCT series.
