Riot Games' chief product officer, Mark Merrill, offered insights into the progress of the highly anticipated Runeterra-set MMO title. Merrill disclosed that the project remains in development; however, the team has opted to initiate a comprehensive overhaul of the game's direction. This decision comes as a response to the team's ambition to differentiate the MMO from existing titles in the market.
Acknowledging the competitive landscape of MMOs, Merrill emphasized the importance of making the game truly distinctive. Riot named veteran game developer Fabrice Condominas (Star Wars: Squadrons, Mass Effect Andromeda) as the new executive producer of the upcoming MMO.
