Steam has achieved a new milestone with 37,258,432 concurrent players as of August 25, 2024. This surpasses the previous record of 36,999,000 set in June 2024 and follows a series of milestones throughout the year, including exceeding 36 million concurrent players in March.
The surge is largely attributed to the release of Black Myth: Wukong, an action RPG by Game Science inspired by the classic novel Journey to the West. The game has quickly become the most-played single-player title on Steam and has sold 10 million units across all platforms, with 3 million concurrent players on both Steam and PlayStation.

In addition to Black Myth: Wukong, popular titles such as Counter-Strike 2, Dota 2, and PUBG: Battlegrounds continue to draw large numbers of players, contributing to Steam’s record-breaking player count.
Valve is also expanding its platform by listing Deadlock on Steam, though it is currently in an "invite only" early access phase. Furthermore, Valve is extending SteamOS support to other handheld consoles, aiming to increase the platform’s market reach.
