Xbox is expanding its reach beyond traditional gaming devices by teaming up with LG to bring Cloud Gaming (Beta) to internet-connected vehicles. The collaboration allows players to stream and play Xbox games directly from their cars, marking a major leap in the company’s "This is an Xbox" vision, which previously seemed to be confined to consoles, PCs, smart TVs, and handhelds.
The partnership integrates Microsoft's Xbox into LG’s webOS Automotive Content Platform (ACP), enabling gamers to access their Game Pass Ultimate library on select cars equipped with internet connectivity. With this new feature, passengers can enjoy their favorite Xbox titles while on the go. However, a key requirement is having an automotive data plan, as this will be needed for streaming services.
To start gaming, players simply need a compatible Bluetooth controller, the Xbox app, and a valid Game Pass subscription. After logging in, they’ll be able to access their entire gaming library and start playing. The new feature is designed with safety in mind, ensuring that all services operate in accordance with driving regulations.
A recent post from Tom Warren on X revealed that the Kia EV3 is one of the first cars to feature LG's webOS ACP, but more vehicle models with this capability are expected to be announced in the near future.
