Prime League has partnered with GGWP to remove import slot restrictions for women players, allowing them to compete in the European Regional League (ERL) system without being classified as imports. This change is expected to open more doors for women in competitive League of Legends, particularly in the DACH (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland) region where the Prime League is based.

Previously, players from outside the DACH region would take up limited import slots on team rosters, often making it more difficult for women—especially those from outside the region—to be considered for competitive opportunities. With this new rule, women players, regardless of their location, can now join teams without counting against import limits, making it easier for them to break into the scene.

To participate under this new policy, players must undergo a verification process through the Prime League’s official website and the GGWP Discord server. Once verified, they’ll be eligible to compete across all divisions of the Prime League.

The decision aims to level the playing field and address the limited number of women currently involved in the League of Legends professional ecosystem. With the pool of female talent historically underrepresented, this initiative is designed to encourage more teams to scout and sign women players without facing roster limitations.

G2 Esports player Maya ‘Caltys’ Henckel, one of the most prominent women in the League of Legends esports scene, praised the move on social media. “HUGE news for any woman trying to get into esports,” she posted, reflecting the broader community’s enthusiasm about the update.

Fans also voiced their support, with one noting on social media: “Nice idea to promote more diversity in the player base. Other ERLs should follow your lead.”

This move comes as part of a broader effort by Riot Games to foster inclusivity and representation within its esports ecosystem. Earlier this year, reports surfaced that Riot is planning to launch a Game Changers circuit for League of Legends in the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa) region. While the initiative has yet to be officially announced, it is expected to mirror the structure of Valorant Game Changers, providing a dedicated competitive path for women and marginalized genders.
