Evolution Championship Series (Evo), the longest-running fighting game tournament in the world, is set to take its next big step in global expansion. NODWIN Gaming,has acquired Sony Interactive Entertainment's (SIE) stake in the event, becoming the new majority shareholder. This move is part of a strategic shift aimed at growing Evo's reach internationally while preserving its roots in the fighting game community.
NODWIN Gaming Takes Over Majority Ownership of Evo
On the heels of the announcement, NODWIN Gaming will now spearhead Evo's future growth. The esports organization, known for its deep influence in South Asian esports and youth entertainment, is poised to drive the series into new regions. The financial details of the acquisition, including the amount of the transaction, have not been disclosed.
Although Sony is stepping back from a direct ownership role, the tech giant will continue to serve as Evo’s global sponsor until at least 2028. In addition, SIE reiterated its commitment to the fighting game community, promising continued support through PlayStation Tournaments and upcoming products designed to engage players globally.

In addition to NODWIN’s acquisition, Saudi Arabia's Qiddiya has expanded its partnership with Evo through 2027. This partnership includes significant investment in RTS, further strengthening Evo’s ability to produce international events, create original content, and enhance community engagement globally.
