Blizzard announced the Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS). The company stated that its "objective is to establish an open and inclusive ecosystem, fostering increased opportunities for players aspiring to become professional gamers."

The OWCS will function as an international esports circuit spanning three primary regions: North America; Europe, the Middle East, and North Africa (EMEA); and Asia. ESL FACEIT Group is set to manage the Overwatch Champions Series in North America and EMEA, while the Asian OWCS circuit will be overseen by the Korean esports tournament organizer WDG. Each region will feature its own distinct qualifying and tournament schedule.
