An esports teacher in Jonesboro, Arkansas, reported a student to the police after accusing him of using his credit card to make unauthorized gaming purchases.

In November, Stuart Simpson, an esports teacher with 14 years of experience, became suspicious when he noticed over $1,000 in charges on his credit card related to PlayStation purchases. Simpson had initially entered his credit card details into a student’s PlayStation console to help the student buy a three-month PlayStation Plus subscription, which is required to access free games and play online. However, Simpson alleges that the student then took advantage of the situation by making additional purchases without permission.

When Simpson went to remove his credit card information from the student’s console through the PlayStation website, he discovered $1,056 in charges. While it’s unclear exactly what the student purchased, it’s believed to be either video games or in-game items, such as skins for Call of Duty.

Simpson contacted his credit card company, which refunded the charges. Still, he decided to file a police report. The Jonesboro Police Department referred the case to its juvenile division for further investigation, and the incident is currently under review.
