15 May 2025 12:17

Team Vitality has announced the acquisition of Indonesian esports organization Bigetron Esports, marking its entry into the Southeast Asian mobile gaming market. This move strengthens Vitality’s presence in the region and expands its portfolio of competitive mobile gaming teams.

Strategic Move into Southeast Asia

Southeast Asia is one of the fastest-growing esports markets, and Indonesia, with over 100 million gamers, is a key player in the region. The country is also one of the top mobile gaming markets globally, with mobile gaming revenue in Southeast Asia growing by 20% year-over-year. By acquiring Bigetron, Vitality gains a foothold in this dynamic market.

“This acquisition marks an important step in our internationalisation as well as becoming the best gaming organization in the world,” said Nicolas Maurer, CEO of Team Vitality.

Rebranding and Integration

As part of the acquisition, Bigetron Esports will be rebranded to Bigetron by Vitality, reflecting its integration into Team Vitality’s global structure. All of Bigetron’s social media channels will be aligned with the new branding, merging their existing 6.8 million followers into Vitality’s broader network.

Bigetron's Success in Mobile Gaming Bigetron Esports has an established presence in several major mobile titles:

Mobile Legends: Bigetron’s men’s team recently placed 3rd in the Mobile Legends Professional League Indonesia (MPL ID), with a peak viewership of 4 million.

PUBG Mobile: Bigetron has earned over $1.2 million in prize money and has competed in multiple World Championships, winning titles in 2019 and 2020.

Free Fire: The team won the Free Fire World Series Indonesian Fall 2024 and qualified for the World Series Grand Finals.

Honor of Kings: Bigetron’s team recently won the Indonesian Qualifier for the HoK Invitational Season 3.

In addition to these teams, Bigetron’s Women’s Mobile Legends roster, acquired by Team Vitality in 2024, will receive additional support as it prepares for the Esports World Cup in 2025.
