Valve’s long-rumored return to the living room may be on the horizon, as a new device dubbed the Valve Fremont has surfaced on benchmarking platform Geekbench, fueling speculation about a new SteamOS-powered console.

While Valve has yet to officially confirm the project, Geekbench test results offer the most concrete indication yet that the company is preparing to re-enter the console market—this time with a TV-focused gaming PC that could rival other compact gaming systems.

Valve Fremont Benchmark Reveals Key Hardware Specs

The listing reveals that the Valve Fremont is equipped with a six-core, 12-thread CPU clocked at 3.2 GHz, along with 8GB of DDR5 RAM. Though the benchmark shows the device running Windows 11 Pro, insiders suggest the final product will use SteamOS, Valve’s Linux-based operating system tailored for gaming.

Importantly, this appearance on Geekbench should be treated as an early indication, not confirmation of final specifications. Hardware and software configurations often change between internal testing and commercial release.

Valve Insider Details the Fremont Console

Well-known Valve insider Brad Lynch shared additional insights following the Geekbench leak. According to Lynch, the Fremont is a “TV-focused PC box/console running SteamOS” and includes a dedicated HDMI port for easy living room setup.

Lynch also claims the system features a semi-custom CPU based on AMD's Hawk Point 2 architecture, notably without an integrated GPU. Instead, the console reportedly packs a dedicated AMD Radeon RX 7600 graphics card, making it significantly more powerful than Valve’s handheld Steam Deck.

All of this hardware is said to be housed in a custom-designed case by Valve, tailored for living room environments.

The Valve Fremont could be just one part of a broader hardware rollout. According to Lynch, Valve plans to launch it alongside several other devices: a new controller codenamed “Ibex”, the long-rumored “Deckard” VR headset, and its accompanying “Roy” controllers.
