The UK-based Just Stop Oil group affected EGX 2023, three activists from the organization stormed the stage during the Tekken tournament's final, dousing the big screen and parts of the stage with orange paint. The protesters were subsequently arrested on suspicion of Criminal Damage by the Metropolitan Police.

Just Stop Oil's reasoning lies in their belief that EGX, a prominent event in the UK gaming calendar, is sponsored by Barclays Bank. The group asserts that Barclays is accountable for funding "around $167 billion in fossil fuels." They also delve into criticizing Shell's sponsorship deal with Fortnite and various influencers.
