The Independent Workers' Union of Great Britain (IWGB) has accused Rockstar Games of engaging in union busting, following the dismissal of 30 to 40 employees last Thursday, October 30. The union claims the terminations were unfair and linked to the employees' involvement in union activities, despite Rockstar's explanation that the firings were due to leaks of confidential information.

Rockstar’s Response and the Union’s Allegations

Rockstar Games has stated that the employees were dismissed for leaking sensitive internal information, asserting that the firings had nothing to do with union activity. However, the IWGB strongly disputes this claim, suggesting that the terminations were a deliberate act of victimization related to union involvement.

In response, the IWGB organized protests outside Rockstar North and Take-Two Interactive offices in London and Edinburgh. The union's legal team is now moving forward with formal legal claims against Rockstar, accusing the company of engaging in unfair dismissal practices and violating labor laws.

The IWGB has alleged that Rockstar's actions are tantamount to trade union victimization and blacklisting. They believe the dismissals were part of a broader pattern of retaliation against union members and activities.

In a statement, the union’s legal team said: "We are representing employees who were dismissed by Rockstar Games in circumstances that we believe amount to victimisation and collective dismissal linked to trade union activity. Despite our representation and attempts to meet with Rockstar to resolve the matter through negotiation, Rockstar has declined and persisted to terminate members of the union in a manner that is unacceptable and unlawful."
