In 2020, Twitch banned Dr Disrespect, also known as Herschel “Guy” Beahm, without providing any reasons. At the time it was not known and Twitch did not provide the reasons for the ban. Consequently, Dr Disrespect left the platform.
Recently, two former Twitch employees shed light on the events leading to his permanent removal from the platform. One employee, who worked on Twitch’s trust and safety team at the time of the ban, accused Beahm and stated that he had used "Whispers", to communicate with a minor. Allegedly, this communication included discussing the possibility of meeting up at TwitchCon. At the time of writing the employee remained anonymous, citing concerns about potential career repercussions. Shortly after this accusation Cody Conners, another former Twitch employee from the strategic partnerships team, also supported these claims.

Dr Disrespect responded to the allegation less than two hours after it surfaced, asserting that neither he nor Twitch acknowledged any wrongdoing regarding his ban from the platform. He further elaborated on this claim a day later, reiterating in a tweet on June 22 that he did not engage in any misconduct. According to him, investigations were conducted, and the matter was resolved without finding any illegal actions or wrongdoing on his part. He also mentioned that he received compensation for the situation. While many fans showed their support for Dr Disrespect amid the controversy, others pointed out that the allegation of him "sexting a minor" through Twitch Whispers remained unresolved.
