Team Liquid Signs Caruana

Team Liquid has announced its entry into the world of chess by signing reigning four-time United States Chess Champion, Fabiano Caruana. Caruana will represent the North American esports organization in various competitions, beginning with the 2025 Champions Chess Tour Chessable Masters.

Although chess has been around for over a thousand years, the growth of online platforms like Chess.com has led to a merging of the chess and esports communities.

Caruana joins Team Liquid after winning the Italian National Championship four times and the US Chess Championship four times, with his most recent victory coming in 2024.

"I am really excited to join Team Liquid, an organization with a long heritage of success," Caruana said. "Playing for a team like Liquid and being a part of a wider community can add something new to chess and bring the game to a broader audience."

With this move, Team Liquid expands its roster to 17, continuing to grow its presence across multiple games, including League of Legends, VALORANT, Dota 2, and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, alongside its new chess initiative.
