According to recent reports, several employees at Respawn Entertainment, particularly those working on Apex Legends, have been laid off, as revealed by posts on social media. Aaron Stump, a level designer for Apex Legends, expressed disappointment at seeing colleagues lose their jobs.

Senior writer Peter Stewart also shared his sympathies for those affected. Alex Ackerman, the global social media lead for Apex Legends, confirmed her own layoff after five years with the company.

Despite the reports, Respawn and Electronic Arts have not made any public statements regarding the layoffs. It's speculated that these job cuts are part of EA's previously announced plan to reduce its workforce by 670 positions. This move is aimed at shifting focus towards internally owned intellectual properties, sports, and large online communities, leading to the cancellation of a Star Wars FPS project at Respawn.
