Despite the reports, Respawn and Electronic Arts have not made any public statements regarding the layoffs. It's speculated that these job cuts are part of EA's previously announced plan to reduce its workforce by 670 positions. This move is aimed at shifting focus towards internally owned intellectual properties, sports, and large online communities, leading to the cancellation of a Star Wars FPS project at Respawn.
