Sony Interactive Entertainment announced that it is partnering with Bad Robot Games to support the studio’s first internally developed game. Sony will produce and publish the upcoming four-player cooperative shooter, which is being directed by the studio’s chief creative officer and Left 4 Dead creator Mike Booth.
The game has not been officially revealed yet, but it is currently in development for PlayStation 5 and PC. More information will be shared in the future. Booth first teased the project on Reddit in September, saying it is “built on the foundations of what made Left 4 Dead special.” He said, “If you enjoyed the teamwork, tension, and replayability of my past games, you’ll probably find this one interesting. It expands on the co-op formula in ways I’ve wanted to explore for a long time.”
Bad Robot Games CEO Anna Sweet said the team hopes “to deliver a bold, innovative experience” with the new title. She explained, “Partnering with Sony Interactive Entertainment allows us to bring our new IP to life, with an expansive vision for this new universe. I could not be more excited that Mike Booth is at the creative helm, crafting a cooperative adventure that will lead to unforgettable moments with friends.”
Christian Svensson, SIE’s VP and head of 2P and 3P content ventures and strategic initiatives, said, “We're greatly impressed with the talent Bad Robot Games has assembled at their studio, and are thrilled to partner with them to help produce and publish their upcoming game.”
